Any time you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular provider. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that handles the emails for that particular domain address. The site and the e-mail hosting are generally perceived as one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you wish. For example, some new service provider could have fantastic uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain address to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an e-mail - in either case, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a cloud website hosting account from our company and you wish to switch either your site or your emails to a different company, it will take you literally simply two clicks to do so. Our Hepsia Control Panel comes with an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you are going to be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you wish to use a different email provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2, it won't take more than a few mouse clicks either to add them. You may also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a given MX record will have. The propagation of every record that you modify or set up is not going to take more than a few hours and if needed, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that indicates how long a record will remain active after it is changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any of your domain addresses or subdomains is very easy if you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are managed through our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which features a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as simple as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even if you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not encounter any problems if you wish to switch your website or e-mails to some other service provider while keeping the second service with our company. When needed, you may also create additional MX records and set a certain priority depending on the instructions of the new provider.
