Set up in 2001, the .NAME domain name extension is the only one supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are popular by. Initially, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to buy john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased third-level domain names remained working.

You will have the chance to edit the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our firm if you get its EPP transfer code from the present registrar firm and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no special requirements on who can acquire a dot NAME domain name, but in order to keep the goal behind its creation alive, the Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
